I have lived in NYC for 3 months now with my cousin Lis and we have lived without two (previously) very important items...Cable tv and a microwave. I never thought I would revert to the day without cable tv. As I have previously stated, I am addicted to television, especially my dvr. But, the lack of cable has been much easier than I thought. We basically just watch a ton of Arrested Development and other shows on dvd, and watch the other shows online. Yes, it is annoying, seeing as how we don't have the internet and have to steal it from our neighbors, but hopefully that will soon change. In the meantime, I am forced to pay for the internet at Starbucks or go to my fave cafe, Amazon, or the laundromat (which is where I am writing this, fyi). It has proven difficult, but I am actually surviving without cable. Who would have thought?
The microwave might just be one of the greatest inventions of all time. It was basically my best friend when living on my own. Well, we don't have one. This has led to me having to change what I eat, or just not eat at all because I am too lazy to actually cook something, haha. Don't get me wrong, I know how to cook, but get real irritated only cooking for myself. Microwaves are not expensive nowadays, we just have not seen the use for one at this point. We have survived this far, so I think we will be ok. Ah, how my life has changed...
